Veterans and Politicians – Memorial Day 2010

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

By MCPO William J. Dell, USN (Retired) – 30 May 2010

Have you ever wondered how we came to have Memorial Day or Decoration Day, as it was know then? The answer to this question can be found historically in the desire of the citizens of our Constitutional Republic to honor the soldiers who had died in the Civil War. After some scattered celebrations, a more formal nationwide observance came into being by General Order No. 11 of the Grand Army of the Republic given May 5, 1868.

“The 30th day of May, 1868, is designated for the purpose of strewing with flowers or otherwise decorating the graves of comrades who died in defense of their country during the late rebellion, and whose bodies now lie in almost every city, village, and hamlet churchyard in the land. In this observance no form or ceremony is prescribed, but posts and comrades will in their own way arrange such fitting services and testimonials of respect as circumstances may permit.”

So from year to year, whether blue or gray, these fallen heroes were honored. As time marched on and this nation gave its sons and daughters in the cause of freedom around the world, those of the Spanish- American War, World Wars I and II, the Korean War, the Viet Nam War, the Persian Gulf War and now the War on Terror in Iraq and Afghanistan have been added to the roll call of honor.

Today however I am saddened by the callous disregard and disrespect paid to our Veterans (more…)

Socialism Quote

Socialism is
a philosophy of failure,
the creed of ignorance,
and the gospel of envy,
its inherent virtue is
the equal sharing of misery.

Love From Grandpa via Obama

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

A sign of the times perhaps….

John G. Is 65 years old and owns a small business. He’s a life-long Republican and sees his dream of retiring next year has all but evaporated. With the stock market crashing and new taxes coming his way, John assumes now that he will work to his dying day.

John has a granddaughter. Ashley is a recent college grad.. She drives a flashy hybrid car, wears all the latest fashions, and loves to go out to nightclubs and restaurants. Ashley campaigned hard for Barack Obama. After the election she made sure her grandfather (and all other Republican family members) received a big I told-you-so earful on how the world is going to be a much better place now that her party is taking over.

Having lost both roommates, Ashley recently ran short of cash and cannot pay the rent (again) on her 3 bedroom townhouse. As she has done many times in the past, she e-mailed her grandfather asking for some financial help.

Here is his reply: (more…)

Illegal Immigration

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

By Charlie Daniels

I don’t know how everybody else feels about it, but to me I think Hispanic people in this country, legally or illegally, made a huge public relations mistake with their recent demonstrations.

I don’t blame anybody in the world for wanting to come to the United States of America , as it is a truly wonderful place. But when the first thing you do when you set foot on American soil is illegal it is flat out wrong and I don’t care how many la-la land left heads come out of the woodwork and start trying to give me sensitivity lessons.

I don’t need sensitivity lessons, in fact I don’t have anything against Mexicans! I just have something against criminals and anybody who comes into this country illegally (more…)

What Love Means to a 4-8 Year Old . . .

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

Slow down for three minutes to read this. It is so worth it. A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, ‘What does love mean?’

The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think.

‘Love is what’s in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.’ Bobby – age 7 (Wow!)

‘When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn’t bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That’s love.’ Rebecca- age 8

‘When someone loves you, the way they say your name (more…)

A Must Read For Parent and Child!

After tossing her books on the sofa, she decided to grab a snack and get on-line. She logged on under her screen name ByAngel213. She checked her Buddy List and saw GoTo123 was on. She sent him an instant message:

ByAngel213: Hi.. I’m glad you are on! I thought someone was following me home today. It was really weird!

GoTo123: LOL You watch too much TV. Why would someone be following you? Don’t you live in a safe neighborhood?

ByAngel213: Of course I do. LOL I guess it was my imagination cuz’ I didn’t see anybody when I looked out.

GoTo123: Unless you gave your name out on-line…. You haven’t done that have you?

ByAngel213: Of course not. I’m not stupid you know. (more…)

Arizona Illegal Immigration Law

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

Resolution adopted by the Constitution Party National Committee
on May 1, 2010, in Minneapolis, in support of the new

Arizona illegal immigration law:

Whereas, The Constitution Party platform affirms the integrity of the international borders of these united States and the Constitutional authority and duty of the federal government to guard and to protect those borders, including the regulation of the numbers and of the qualifications of immigrants into the country; and

Whereas, the Federal Government has wrongfully neglected its role to guard and protect our borders, and thus all Americans, from an unprecedented invasion of illegal aliens;

Whereas, the State of Arizona, in the dire straits of enduring the brunt of most of the illegal crossings of the national border, has passed Arizona Senate Bill 1070 which was signed by Governor Jan Brewer on April 23, 2010; and

Whereas, this Arizona law enables its Law Enforcement officers to enforce federal immigration law using federal standards protecting the rights of all citizens, and are required to do so without violating civil rights and without resorting to racial profiling;

Whereas, the Arizona law does not require new documentation such as a national ID card, but uses existing identification documentation to establish a presumption of legal status;

Therefore be it Resolved, that the Constitution Party National Committee stands with the people of Arizona and applauds the State of Arizona and its Governor Jan Brewer for its recent action to protect and defend it citizens, our country, and the sovereignty of both the State of Arizona and the United States of America.

Comprehensive Immigration Reform

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

By William J. Dell – 05 May 2010

This writer believes that Comprehensive Immigration Reform requires a two prong approach and probably two bills in the Congress. Effective reform must be accomplished in the following two steps:

1. The Border between Mexico and the United States must be secured to prevent ANY further illegal crossing.

2. A comprehensive plan for dealing with the current estimated 12 million Mexican illegal aliens must be developed.

By way of background, the Immigration and Naturalization Act of 1965 amended (more…)

The Westboro Baptist Church

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

By William J. Dell – 05 May 2010

The following quote is generally attributed to Voltaire: “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” I believe the Founding Fathers had this in mind when they penned the First Amendment of the U. S. Constitution which states: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

It has been my understanding since taught in early youth that with every freedom also comes a responsibility. We were always taught that we may have the right to say what we want, but that we did not have the right to cry “Fire!” in a crowded theater in the absence of that fire. The teachings and responsibilities (more…)
