Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA)

Amore Dei, Familiae, Patriae ducit !

In 1787 our Founding Fathers gave us our Constitutional Republic. The Preamble of that sacred document begins with “WE THE PEOPLE of the United States.” This seems like a simple enough statement that even an elementary school student should be able to understand it. If not perhaps President Lincoln can help our understanding. In his Gettysburg Address he explained that we, as a nation, are a “government of the people, by the people, for the people.” Why is it then that our elected Representatives and Senators, most of whom are “supposedly” well educated, cannot understand this? What is so hard to understand? They seem to have forgotten “WE THE PEOPLE” in favor of “we the special interest.”

Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-Calif.) has introduced a bill to REPEAL the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and replace it with the Respect for Marriage Act [S 598]. This DECEPTIVELY named bill is intended to destroy traditional marriage and grant to homosexual or same-sex unions ALL the benefits of federal law granted to traditionally married couples. Her co-conspirators in this travesty are the usual list of “socialist-progressives”: Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), John Kerry (D-Mass.), Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), Chris Coons (D-Del.), Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), Frank R. Lautenberg (D-N.J.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.), Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Al Franken (D-Minn.), Patty Murray (D-Wash.), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), Mark Udall (D-Colo.), Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), Dan Inouye (D-Hawaii), and Daniel Akaka (D-Hawaii). These Senators are quintessential politicians who care nothing about our Constitutional Republic. They only care about staying in power so they can further their desire to enslave WE THE PEOPLE in a Welfare Socialist State.

To this end they choose to “represent” the special interests that keep them in power. In this case the one percent of our nation who are homosexuals. It does NOT matter to them that 99% of WE THE PEOPLE want DOMA preserved. It does not matter to them that 44 states define marriage as the union of a man and a woman, and 29 states have enshrined that definition in their state constitutions. It does NOT matter to them that we are in the midst of trying to cut spending by the federal government. They still want to add yet another “socialist” entitlement to the federal budget for a 1% special interest. It does not matter to them that Almighty God defined marriage some 6000 years ago in the Garden of Eden as ONE MAN and ONE WOMAN.

It should be understood that the reason “traditional” marriage needs to be protected is that “traditional” marriages perpetuate society and civilization through procreation. Same-sex unions cannot procreate and if left in a society of their own would eventually die off and disappear from the earth. They may contribute to society and the nation as individuals but they cannot help in the perpetuation of the society or nation to which they belong. Their “lifestyle” needs to be tolerated but it should NOT be permitted to drive or influence “traditional” society or our Constitutional Republic. Tolerance on the part of the “straight” community does not have to extend to acceptance or governmental support. In our Christian nation, as in the Kingdom of God, we can “love” the sinner [homosexual] without “loving” or “accepting” his or her sin.

A similar Bill was also introduced in the House of Representatives [HR 1116]. Please contact your congressional delegation and voice your concerns about the effort to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act. WE THE PEOPLE, individually and as a nation, need to keep our guard up because Senator Feinstein vows to continue this fight in every Congress until it is passed.

May God Bless and Save the United States of America.
Our Constitutional Republic !
