No New Taxes??

Amore Dei, Familiae, Patriae ducit !
President Obama stated in Dover, NH, on Sept. 12, 2010, “I can make a firm pledge under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes.” [Emphasis added.]
When President Obama officially extended tax cuts enacted by his predecessor in a Rose Garden ceremony December 17, 2010, he ensured the average American will pay about $2,000 less in taxes per year for the next two years. [Emphasis added.]
The Federal Government announced for the second year in a row that the 2011 Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for military retirees, disabled veterans, and social security recipients will be zero.
With these three announcements and being one of those disabled military retirees on social security who certainly is NOT making $250K, I have a question for the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) and the Obama White House — Why did I receive a March surprise? I received notice today that my Federal Withholding went up by almost $500 for this 2011 tax year? If there are no new taxes, why are the withholding tables changing and reducing my fixed monthly income? An income that has been fixed for over two years.
If I have to wait an entire year to get back my “unauthorized loan” to the IRS as far as I am concerned — IT IS A NEW TAX !
