1632 Lord Baltimore
The following is Lord Baltimore’s announcement to the Colonists who settled in his Free State of Maryland. His father was driven out of Virginia because of his Catholic faith.
My aim shall be public unity, and if any person or officer shall molest any person, professing to believe in Jesus Christ, on account of his religion, I will protect the person molested and punish the offender.
